VA AMIA LOGO The VA Health Informatics Certificate Program (AMIA 10x10) is the result of a partnership between VA and AMIA to train health care professionals in applied health and medical informatics.

Course Objectives

  • Explore how technology can be used to improve health care delivery in health care organizations

  • Acquire depth and breadth of knowledge of the principles of Health Informatics

  • Provide a theoretical framework of the design, development, and implementation of health information systems

Participation

  • Targeted to individuals in formal or informal leadership roles in informatics at the facility, VISN, or national level.

  • Time commitment is approximately 12 hours per week for 28 weeks

  • Competitive enrollment limited to 40 students per session

  • Available only to VA staff and select Federal Partners

  • No prerequisites

  • No tuition or fees 

Program Requirements:

  • GS-11 and above; Nurse II and above

  • Not currently enrolled in an internship, fellowship or residency program

  • At least 2 years of employment in the VA

  • Not open to contractors
