Health Informatics Specialist/Clinical Applications Coordinator (HIS-CAC) National Training Program

The series provides technical skills training for HIS/CAC staff who support the software applications that are integral to CPRS. It is strongly recommended that students take each module in order as skills and exercises build sequentially.

Course name: Course 9- Advanced Orders Part 1
Course description:

In a previous course in the National Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Health Informatics Specialist/Clinical Applications Coordinator (HIS/CAC) training series - "Course 3- Orders and Order Menu Management", participants were introduced to the fundamental knowledge and skills needed to use the orders and order menu management functionality to configure, maintain and optimize clinical ordering functionality in CPRS. In this first part of a three part series, HIS/CACs will acquire more advanced knowledge and skills in order entry functionality. Advanced Orders Part 1 will cover advanced parameters and options.

Prerequisites:

Enrolled participants must have access to CPRS and all HIS/CAC menus and keys in their TEST, MIRROR or Training accounts in order to participate in the required exercises. It is assumed that the participant already possesses basic proficiency in using the CPRS graphical user interface.

Participants should have completed Course 3- Orders and Order Menu Management prior to beginning this advanced series on Orders.
